I have wanted to change platforms for quite a while now but never made the switch until now. Partially due to the fact that the only other option that I knew of at the time was Wordpress and let me tell you that site is not easy to navigate. I tried making an account and figured I would just switch to Wordpress but after spending some time on it and not being able to figure out anything I gave up on it. With that being said I am a very tech savvy person and can figure out anything thrown my way in the online world but this was just plain annoying and not user friendly, at least in my mind.
Blogger has been quite good to me since 2013 but I knew it was time to upgrade my blog and design site. I felt as if I was limited in customizations and was starting to feel uninspired by my sites which is no bueno for creative individuals like myself. I also wanted a more professional look to my design business so that is was visually appealing and I could bring my own vision to life.
It wasn't until I read this post from Elle & Co about the 8 Reasons You Should Jump on the Squarespace Bandwagon that I realized Squarespace was the answer. I am a huge believer in everything happens for a reason and when I read this blog post I knew it was time to do a little re design and upgrade.
When I tell you it took me only a couple hours to design both my blog and business site, transfer both domains over and transfer all my blog posts over I am not kidding (This was all around 1am when I couldn't sleep). It was so easy with the help of Squarespace guides and they really cover everything and make it so simple. It is extremely user friendly and I couldn't be happier with the results. The only downside is that I have to pay $10 a month for each site but it is totally worth it in my mind. You are paying for a beautiful website, 24/7 award-winning customer service, unlimited customizations, and an easy to navigate platform. Not to mention you are the owner of your content and their is no drama.
Blogger Pros:
-Free
-Easy To Use
-No experience needed to create a nice looking website
Blogger Cons:
-Limited customizations
-People have had their blogs removed without notification
-Google pretty much owns your content and can do whatever they please with it
Squarespace Cons:
-Costs money
Squarespace Pros:
-Able to fully customize to your liking
-24/7 customer service
-Professional looking
-You own your content
I am not going to sit here and tell you that you need to switch to Squarespace because it is really based on your individual needs and how serious you are about your website. But I would definitely recommend Squarespace to anyone who wants to take their website and business to the next level and who wants a more professional look. You really can't go wrong with it! I am so happy with how both of my sites turned out, what do you guys think?
I am thinking about doing a post on how I moved over my blog posts and domains to Squarespace. Would you guys be interested in that?
Do you use Squarespace? What are your thoughts?
